For sixteen years, Dawn Garcia has worked as a makeup artist and hairstylist for film, television, theatre, weddings, events, and photography. Her vision to create beauty and art is unparalleled. When she began, her very first job was to create Charlie Chaplin makeup and Kabuki theatre for an East meets West Snapple commercial. She was petrified but spent weeks researching old films and Japanese customs and in the end this commercial allowed her to face any |
challenge and push herself to create real beauty and, as it were, incredible special effects.
Dawn has had the pleasure of working with such greats as Placido Domingo at the LA Opera, Steven Spielberg, Roland Joffee, and some notable but not quite as widely known directors like Joe Nussbaum, Greg Schaffer, and Mark Reber. Her range is extensive and can, if asked produce anything from 1920’s cabaret to a severe burn victim in terms of makeup. Always eager to be challenged, Dawn takes tremendous pride in creating art that allows someone to feel both beautiful and empowered. Her dedication to the art form, as well as the strength of allowing a woman or a man to feel their best, is uncanny.
